Pass the Aux: January

Pass the Aux is a monthly series that features new music created by women and gender expansive artists.

We're kicking off 2023 with some new songs from our very own BBG family, as well as some gems from the end of 2022.

High - Natalie Red

The UK based artist & producer plays with DnB and Garage influences on her infectious single "High." With only 3 songs out, Natalie is certainly an artist to keep your eye on this year.

PERFECT FOR: driving fast, dancing hard

FOR FANS OF: PinkPantheress, Sassy 009, piri

@nnataliered

Carpenter - Vagabon

Vagabon's first solo track in 3 years is as beautifully gentle as it is danceable. The thoughtful lyrics and pulsing percussion on "Carpenter" (coproduced by Vagabon & Rostam) make for an exciting genre-defying return to her solo work.

PERFECT FOR: new lease on life

FOR FANS OF: Sudan Archives, Vampire Weekend, Jay Som

@vagabonvagabon

tragedy - Dani Murcia

An incredibly intimate tune from BBG NYC's own Dani Murcia. Dani's vocals glide over an orchestra of tiptoeing keys, plucks, knocks, and haunting slides as she chronicles the unraveling of a relationship. Her debut album comes out March 17th.

PERFECT FOR: anyone going through a breakup

FOR FANS OF: Gabriel Garzon Montano, Snoh Alegra, James Blake

@danimurcia

Orlando - Leith Ross

Canadian folk artist Leith Ross's "Orlando" is carefully crafted to be absolutely heartbreaking. The light-handed production and tender vocals pull at your heartstrings, making for a very intimate listen. There's a very high chance this song will make you cry. Don't say we didn't warn you!

PERFECT FOR: crying into your tea

FOR FANS OF: Adrienne Lenker, anyone in the boygenius trio

@leith_ross

Doesn't Really Matter - Barrie

Barrie's "Doesn't Really Matter" unveils itself like sunlight through the trees at golden hour. The Brooklyn musician's self-produced indie rock is something you don't want to miss.

PERFECT FOR: when you hit the afternoon slump and need a pick me up

FOR FANS OF: Dora Jar, Lizzy McAlpine, MUNYA

@barrieshhh

Hi/Lo - Shaunna Heckman

A beautifully meditative track from BBG Duluth's own Shaunna Heckman. Shaunna creates an effervescent atmosphere on "Hi/Lo" with her effortless vocals and minimal production.

PERFECT FOR: watching the sunset

FOR FANS OF: The xx, Low, Caribou
