In the heart of Guatemala, exists an organization that has been a beacon of hope and transformation for young girls: Las Niñas de Guatemala. This non-profit organization’s mission has been to break the cycle of poverty through education, empowerment, and community support. We want to shed light on the history, initiatives, and impact Las Niñas de Guatemala has had on the lives of their community through the power of art.

This organization was founded by a group of dedicated individuals who were inspired by the need to address the pressing issues faced by girls in Guatemala. This beautiful country, known for its extraordinary landscapes and vibrant culture, also grapples with poverty, limited access to education, and gender inequality. Recognizing the potential of education to change lives, the founders set out to create an organization that would empower young girls with knowledge, skills, and opportunities.

Las Niñas de Guatemala also recognizes the importance of community engagement. Recently, this organization worked with Beats by Girlz and its chapter leaders to create a documentary highlighting their mission to support musical artists and create collective healing and learning. The music from this documentary, “Alzar mi Voz es mi Derecho”, was produced by Alliee Fields from BBG Madrid and Laura Rey from BBG Quito. The documentary highlights the many opportunities this organization provides, such as educational workshops on topics of preventing gender violence, and using movement exercises to connect with the body.

Over the years, Las Niñas de Guatemala has made a significant impact on the lives of countless girls and their families. By providing access to education and empowerment opportunities, the organization has helped girls break free from the cycle of poverty. Not only has it transformed individual lives, but it has also contributed to a broader shift in societal attitudes toward girls and women in Guatemala. By demonstrating the immense potential of the girls in their community and advocating for gender equality, Las Niñas de Guatemala is helping to create a more inclusive and just society.
