About Beats By Girlz

Beats By Girlz is a 501(c)3 nonprofit working on gender equity in music production and technology. We do this work through global programming and regional chapter work including events, content development, educational programming, and community building for youth and adults.

 

Now in our 11th year, BBG has grown from a volunteer run organization to an organization with a staff of 8 people and has almost 40 chapters world wide. We partner and collaborate with artists, sister organizations, and partners including: Ableton, Splice, Native Instruments, Focusrite, Kimbra, Madame Gandhi, Bad Snacks, She Is The Music, Femme House, and more! About the Internship

This internship is for Arizona State University students only. We are seeking 1-2 interns for the 2023 Fall semester to help with our global initiatives as well as in-person events for our BBG PHX chapter. 

 

This is a hybrid position, interns will work remotely as well as in person for meetings and events in Phoenix, AZ. This position is equivalent to a 135 hour, 3 credit internship which roughly estimates to 8.5 hours a week per semester and will last from August 15th to December 15th, 2023. The hours are flexible, except for when there are meetings and  events. This position is an internship for credit and includes a $1,3750 stipend. 

 

There is a possibility for the Fall 2023 interns to renew in subsequent semesters and participate in the Spring 2024 semester as well. 

 

Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

• Assisting with 3 in person events including a launch party 

• Assisting with the planning of a Songwriting and Production CAMP

• Working with and maintaining a multi-platform content calendar for BBG Global and BBG PHX

• Posting regularly on multiple social media accounts on behalf of Beats By Girlz and Beats By Girlz PHX (including IG, FB, TikTok, YouTube, and Discord)

• Creating graphics & designs in Canva

• Creating original content for social media, including songwriting and production how to videos

• Providing support for & collaborating with our Communications & Marketing team

• Helping to answer emails and social media DMs

• Attending weekly staff meetings 

 

Skills & Requirements

• Enthusiasm for gender equity and equality in the music industry

• Ability to work independently from home as well as in person in a group

• Ability to problem solve on your own

• Passionate for music production, technology, and songwriting

• Passionate about making a more equitable music industry

• Experience posting and creating content for social media accounts

• Basic understanding & experience with Google workspaces

• Great communication & organization skills

• Basic experience in graphic design (Canva a plus)

• Basic experience in video editing

• Must be comfortable working with a diverse group of people

• Ability to read and write in multiple languages (not required, but admired)
