Beats By Girlz is a 501(c)3 nonprofit working on gender equity in music production and technology. We do this work through global programming and regional chapter work including events, content development, educational programming, and community building for youth and adults.
Now in our 11th year, BBG has grown from a volunteer run organization to an organization with a staff of 8 people and has almost 40 chapters world wide. We partner and collaborate with artists, sister organizations, and partners including: Ableton, Splice, Native Instruments, Focusrite, Kimbra, Madame Gandhi, Bad Snacks, She Is The Music, Femme House, and more! Managing Director Position
​
The Managing Director oversees day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth functioning of BBG. They directly manage staff and oversee Chapter Development, Communications and Marketing, and administrative systems. Responsibilities include HR management, fostering a healthy workplace culture, supervising volunteers and interns, conducting staff meetings, and updating policies. The MD collaborates with the Executive Director, advising on vision and strategy. They may occasionally travel as a stand-in for the ED and serve on Board Subcommittees.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provides inspiration, motivation, and guidance to staff in on 1x1 meetings and department meetings

Oversees staff – hiring and firing; weekly staff meetings; quarterly department reviews, and yearly staff self-evaluations and is the direct report for Director of Communications, Director of Chapter Development, Interns, and Volunteers

Operates all HR needs, including writing and posting job descriptions, recruiting candidates, and interviewing qualified candidates

Oversees all administrative systems (bookkeeping, Google Admin, insurance, etc.)

Maintains a staff handbook for procedures and culture

Helps assist ED on any special projects that require top management (this includes fundraising, travel to special events, hosting special events, relationships with special partners, etc.)

Runs Professional Development opportunities for staff twice a year, including the annual in person staff retreat and the annual remote staff retreat
Requirements:
-
3+ years management or project management experience
-
Entrepreneurial spirit, self starter, ability to predict and solve problems before they occur – great a getting tasks done efficiently not matter the size
-
Excitement for leading a feminist non-profit organization and creating culture outside of the traditional confinements of patriarchy and hierarchical thinking

Must have great interpersonal and people skills

Outstanding writing and communication skills

Great analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate problems ahead of time and solve them efficiently - Initiative

Excellent at creating and maintaining systems that work for a global organization of people with many different cultural backgrounds

Proficient in Google Suite, AirTable
Additional Experience (admired but not required)

Deep passion for the music industry, music technology and production, and music education

Experience in admin, human resources, and/or project management
-
Equal parts business and creative thinker

Ability to read and write in multiple languages

Fundraising experience
-
Previous experience working for a music nonprofit or feminist organization

This is a remote contract position starting at a rate of $35 per hour, negotiable based on experience, and requires 10-20 hours per week, with potential for growth into a full-time role as the company expands.
